Being a part of the launch of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has been a thrill. As a Senior Segment Producer I have interviewed everyone from Michelle Obama to Malala to Oprah to DeNiro. I've produced hilarious scripted segments with Bruce Willis, Daniel Craig, and Abbi and Ilana from Broad City and I created a signature segment called "Big Questions with Even Bigger Stars"
I produced the interview segment and this scene that imagines what it must be like for James Bond to try to rent a car. Enjoy.
Big Questions with Even Bigger Stars is an idea I conceived that has been featured on the show several times with big starts including Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lawrence, Bryan Cranston, and Kermit the Frog. Here is the original segment with Scarlet Johansson, which aired just 2 days in to the Late Show's run.
In addition to the interview, I produced this fight scene between Stephen and Bruce Willis.
One of my favorite segments was this one, where Malala shows Stephen just how magical she is.
Another favorite is the time I devised this barf-off between Stephen and Emily Blunt
I joined The Colbert Report as an associate field producer in August of 2005, 3 months before the show went on air. I enjoyed being a part of creating the show from the ground up, and was promoted to field producer within the first year. For nine years, I traveled this great nation with Stephen as his right hand woman while he got to "Better Know a District" with US Congressmen and Congresswomen, and learned about everything from art appreciation to bobsledding (with the US Olympic gold medalists!), to political campaigning with Herman Cain. I also scoured the internet (and even actual newspapers!) for compelling, quirky, and controversial stories in small town America. I pitched stories, interviewed subjects, wrote Stephen's voice over, and directed edits to create satirical profiles such as the mystery of some missing scallop guts in Maine, the controversial story of a man who claimed it was "too hot to fish", and the dramatic expose of a man nailed for pirating polka DVDs
I worked as an associate producer and segment producer for the pilot of what would become the Rachael Ray show. There, I booked guests for lifestyle segments, organized field shoots, and produced craft segments.
I produced celebrity interview segments for Sony's "Life & Style", a show "all about your life and how to live it with style!"
I worked my way up through the ranks at Conan from receptionist, to assistant to the segment producers, to researcher.
I was an NBC page!
