I joined The Colbert Report as an associate field producer in August of 2005, 3 months before the show went on air. I enjoyed being a part of creating the show from the ground up, and was promoted to field producer within the first year. For nine years, I traveled this great nation with Stephen as his right hand woman while he got to "Better Know a District" with US Congressmen and Congresswomen, and learned about everything from art appreciation to bobsledding (with the US Olympic gold medalists!), to political campaigning with Herman Caine. I also scoured the internet (and even actual newspapers!) for compelling, quirky, and controversial stories in small town America. I pitched stories, interviewed subjects, wrote Stephen's voice over, and directed edits to create satirical profiles such as the mystery of some missing scallop guts in Maine, the controversial story of a man who claimed it was "too hot to fish", and the dramatic expose of a man nailed for pirating polka DVDs
